Why Are Guys So Weird?

Updated on July 31, 2013

As girls go through their lives some boys are just friends. Those “just friends” often times want to be more. How they express that may be a little bit more inconspicuous. Unfortunately if you don’t know some of the signs to look for you may be left clueless as to their obscure behavior. Here’s a little insight on what seems like weird behavior to you but perfectly sane gestures to him.

Giggling Giggler

Have you begun to notice your guy pal acts differently now while you carry on jokingly like you normally do? Does a high-pitched giggle take the place of a hearty laugh? Well it could mean he has begun to be smitten with you. For some unknown reason their laugh becomes the giddy giggle of a 12 year old school girl. So the next time you tell a joke and notice this tell-tell sign it’s okay. Just go with it.

Angry Mid Convo

Sometimes you can just be in the middle of a convo with your buddy and anger from him kicks in outta nowhere. You can ask him what’s up with his crazy behavior all you want but he may never admit why. Testosterone is a curious hormone. Who knows why he became angry. It could have been because he’s into you and you were talking about another guy. Or it could be because you don’t see him “that way.” It could even be because you did something with someone else, may it be male or female, and he has in his crazy noggin that you should have done it with him. Chances are high it’s nothing you’ve done at all. It’s something they need to get past and sort out themselves.

Thinks Everybody Wants You

This is normal behavior. Whether they’re just friends or boyfriends they have this insecure thought that every other guy is looking at you and wants you. Don’t worry honey this is just an insecurity on their part. Since the cave days men have been “claiming” women and want to kick the ass of all who come near. Your only part in this is to make sure it doesn’t get out of control and become a problem for your friendship.

Long Lingering Looks

Do you constantly feel like something is hanging from your nose? Or perhaps you have broccoli between your teeth? It’s probably neither. Guys tend to take longer looks than usual because they are entranced by you in some form or fashion. Could be your smile, the way you crinkle your nose or merely how you looked up from a book. It may not be any of those things at all, it could be that they are trying to think of something clever to say to you and don’t want to sound like a fool. Being tongue tied is a probable side effect of being enamored with you so be patient with him and give him time to come to his senses. The staring will subside until the next time you do something stunning again.

Copies You

You don on blue, he wears blue. You order a piña colada and strangely enough he does the same. You'll even notice that he magically has the same interests that you do. You should take it as a compliment. He likes you and only wants to appear likeable to you. No matter how manly men act they want to be liked just as much as girls do.

Protective Over You

Some days boys…ahem, men, do everything but beat their chests to prove how big and manly they are. Most of the time they show it by being protective over you. You've seen Spiderman in action over Mary Jane or how Louis Lane is saved on countless versions of Superman. Men are the same way just on a smaller scale. They may not want you lifting things, they may want to do all the driving or feel that the slightly hardest of tasks should be done by them. To an independent woman, this can present a bit of a problem. We can take it as the man seeing them as lesser than them. Ladies, try not to take offense unless they are full blown sexists. It probably just means that he likes/loves you a lot and doesn’t want any harm to come to you.

After the Break Up He Still Wants You

This is a subject in dating you must pay close attention to. Depending on how he acts he either truly wants you back or his behavior is due to the fact that he doesn’t want you to be with anyone else. Sometimes men want to keep you around until they find another to replace you. How you can tell which one he is? If he wants you back he still pays attention to you and your little quirks when he sees you. If you call/text him he swiftly answers back. On the other hand if he acts like an ass to you and only wants you because he wants something from you then you know he just keeps you around until the next one comes along. The same behavior could also mean he's just jealous that you've been canoodling with another.

Now that you’re a little bit more in the know you can at least understand why he acts like he does. Jealousy, falling for you and wanting to look out for you can cause them to act out in mysterious ways. Curious expressions are only to show you their endearing affection for you. Crazy thing is, they may not ever know or understand why they’re doing it themselves. Go figure.
